“No pill can help me deal with the problem of not wanting to take pills; likewise, no amount of psychotherapy alone can prevent my manias and depressions. I need both. It is an odd thing, owing life to pills, one’s own quirks and tenacities, and this unique, strange, and ultimately profound relationship called psychotherapy”
I love this and I love Kay redfield Jamison. Her work is so amazing and relatable. XX

Here’s an idea, just write to the John Hopkins school of psychiatry. Letter is bound to get there sooner or later

I don’t know how you feel about this….I’ve always felt envious of KRJ because after her spell of severe madness, she got well enough to marry a professor, finish her own education, become a professor and celebrity to the extent that her contact details are impossible to find (I want to interview her but can’t find her contact details). It’s discouraging to me, because my career has gone in the exact opposite trajectory….
