another day by the wayside

Another day by the wayside

It’s been a tough night and morning. I woke up again in pain and said fuck it. I’m not going out. We were supposed to get rain but it doesn’t look like a drop fell. I took my pills and rolled over to sleep again. Then I did the same thing a few hours ago. Seems the pills wear off and then I wake up in pain. I hate my life.

I really had wanted to go to Starbucks today. I probably could have suffered through and made it like I usually do but my resistance is down and my tolerance for pain is at an all time low. I need to get my haircut, which I was hoping to be today. It wasn’t in the cards. I am feeling really low. I have thought about calling my psychiatrist but I feel there is nothing she can do to help me so why bother. It’s another hot and humid day despite the temps being near 80 degrees. It’s a small reprieve from the 90 degree weather we have been having.

My mother didn’t want me to turn the oven on to make my steak. It was only going to be on broil for a little while rather than actually turning the oven on. It was a huge piece of steak so I doubt I will be eating anything else today. My mother had cooked some veggies so I had some of that as well.

I really need to shower today as I am feeling gross. But it’s going to be tricky with my ankle not liking me to be standing. I will have to take some more pain meds and then when they kick in, shower. It’s the only way to do it.

I might make coffee in a little while. My brain has cobwebs in it from all the pain meds I have been taking. I haven’t been taking more than I usually take but between the sleeping and pain, I just feel groggy. If I went to Starbucks, I think I would have had 5 shots of espresso with soy milk. I had 4 the other day and it didn’t do much for me.

Despite a low interest in the book “The Cuckoo’s Calling”, I keep reading it. It hasn’t gotten interesting at all. No drama or action. A pretty boring book. I am disappointed. I just bought another SE Hinton book, That was then, this is now. It’s her second book that she wrote. I plan on reading it after Cuckoo. It’s a short book so shouldn’t take me long.

Major shopping done and the suicidality from last night

Major shopping done and the suicidality from last night

I got my monthly groceries today. I just finished putting everything away that needed to be put away. The breads I left out for my mother to deal with as the refrigerator needs some shuffling. I am not good at that. I am disappointed they didn’t have my hot dogs and one of the 12 pks I ordered, they decided to give me two 2L bottles. I rather they just give me a credit. I should have sent them back with the guy. But oh well. I have my diet soda that I drink. It’ll come in handy on these hot days.

I must have spent 15 minutes shopping at Walmart and walked out with $66 worth of clothes. It was all the shorts that I needed for the summer as I was wearing out the jean shorts I kept on wearing. I figure it will last me three years at least. That was the last time I went clothes shopping. I hate shopping for clothes. If something doesn’t catch my eye right away, I don’t get it. There were clothes I wanted to get but they didn’t have my size. I was disappointed.

After shopping at Walmart, I went to my therapy appointment. We talked about last night. I am glad that I didn’t email my psychiatrist at like 2 am. I know I would have received a phone call this morning if I did. I was not in good space. My ankle is starting to throb but it was nothing like last night. I still feel like I should be dead. I told my therapist I had every intention to cancel our appointments for next week but she wouldn’t have one word of it. I also told her I felt like texting her but I didn’t feel like it because I knew we would end up talking about it. She told me I could text her any time, day or night. That is good and all but it sucks when you don’t get a response back. I didn’t tell her this.

Our conversation was all over the place. Whenever there was a break, she brought us back to the suicidality. She wanted to know more about it. I really don’t remember much, though I still remember feeling suicidal. I think if I had a solid plan, I probably would have executed it today, regardless of the consequences. I woke up really groggy as I didn’t go to sleep till well after 0200. I did text my therapist around 0211 so I was still up at that time. I just said I was in a “dangerous mood”. I really didn’t want to get up but I couldn’t forfeit the Zipcar. It was well past the time I could cancel it so I forced myself up. I was so sleepy that I didn’t even get myself coffee before leaving Boston. I was half way to my therapist’s location when I realized I didn’t get coffee as I was getting sleepy on the road. I am so glad there is a Starbucks near her office that I always go to. I also got something to eat as I was getting hungry.

I should probably email my psychiatrist and let her know what happened last night and that I am still feeling suicidal. It was very difficult NOT to do something last night as I just was fed up with being in pain all the time, night after night after night. I wish it was close to 2000 so I could take my meds and go to bed. I am so fricken tired. I tried taking a nap before the groceries got here but some idiot from South Carolina called me and woke me up. It was a sign because it was close to when my delivery was scheduled to be delivered. So I never got my nap. I so could use a coffee but I don’t want to fuck up my sleep further.

There was hardly any traffic on the way home, thank goodness. I had enough time to make a run to my house to drop off my shopping bags and then return the car. I am glad I have a location near my house that is within walking distance. There is another location near me but it’s up a hill and I don’t do hills. If I could, I wouldn’t be disabled. My ankle already didn’t like the walk back home but I took my pain meds to quiet it down.

This is why I don’t understand why I got so suicidal last night. It’s not like I don’t have meds for my pain. I do and they work, though taking them before the pain is bad has always been a challenge. I could just take them and within minutes my pain can climb or it could be two hours after I take the meds and then my pain shoots up. There is no rhyme or reason to what brings me pain. The slightest movement seems to make it explode and for some reason, it hurts threefold when I lay down versus when I am sitting up. But I can’t sleep while sitting. It hurts my back and neck being in that position all the time. I have tried to use a pillow and sleep but I always turn over on my side and sleep, sometimes with the sitting pillow as a back support or it ends up on the floor.

I told my therapist about the anger that I was feeling last night when the pain happened to get out of control. I really wanted to punch a wall. I was so done. I have no idea what will happen tonight if my pain returns when I try and sleep. I know part of the reason is because I thought I took my pain meds but I didn’t. I usually take them either before my night meds or after but because I was watching the game last night, things kind of didn’t follow my routine. I also now realize that I was on my feet more because I washed dishes before going up to bed. That could have been why the pain was so intense last night. I did them because my mother would flip if I left them for her in the morning.

I feel really sad that I got so suicidal last night and didn’t act on my feelings even though they were really strong. I think if the voices were not controlled I probably wouldn’t have stayed safe. I don’t know what I would do as most of my medication is three feet from me and I don’t think my foot would have allowed the journey, no matter how suicidal I was. I knew things would be better in the morning (even though technically it was morning) but I couldn’t see it. I had to do something and ended up doing nothing. I feel like a failure.

feeling wicked down and depressed

Feeling wicked down and depressed

I woke up early because I had to pee but I couldn’t get out of bed so went back to sleep. When I woke up two hours later, I really had to run to the bathroom. My bladder was overfilled. I brushed my teeth because my mouth felt like a sewer. That was all I needed to do to get my ankle going. It hurts so bad right now and it got me depressed. I have to out today. I took some pain meds but I still am not sleepy and the pain has, thankfully, lessened a bit. Sometimes the meds are enough to knock me back out and sometimes it doesn’t.

My mood is terrible right now. I really just don’t want to be. If I had the means to really carry out my thoughts, I would so go through with them right now. I feel so lowly. All I can think about is death. I keep wondering what it would be like laying in a casket.

I have therapy today and then I have to go out to my appointment with the NP for my pain meds. I really don’t want to go out. It’s already muggy. I put the AC on to cool down my room. I’m not going to shower because I know I will be sweating when I go out. I will shower when I come back home.

I hate being in this irritable mood. I woke up kind of okay but the pain caused my mood to dip very low. Now all I can think about is death. I am so tired of feeling this way. I never feel “better”. I always feel gloomy and sad. The voices are always there reminding that I am a piece of shit.

I got three hours before my therapy appointment. I am going to try and get some sleep now. I hope I don’t wake up.

I saw my neurologist today. It was more of a catch up appointment as I wasn’t really having too much nerve pain. I told her it had quieted down a month after my father’s death. She already knew so I didn’t have to tell her. I was grateful because I wasn’t sure how I was going to be if I had to tell her. I told her about the New York Times article, which I thought I sent her but I guess I didn’t because she doesn’t recall it. So I sent it to her this evening when I came home.

It took me a long time to get home than it did getting there. My ankle was a mess by the time I got home. I am glad I took my cane with me. I am in wicked pain and tomorrow I have to go out again. I don’t have to do much walking.

I should have taken a trilafon before leaving the house but I didn’t want to be drowsy. Big mistake. I got really paranoid and psychotic while on the bus and on the train. When I got to the new station I put my music on and it helped with the noises in my head. I knew I had a long train ride so I brought my Kindle. I read on the way to the appointment, which helped quiet down the voices more. By the time I reached my appointment, I was less paranoid. It helped that the train didn’t have that many people on it. I was going toward the end of the line anyways. Coming back home was a different story. Crowds were on the train as people were coming home from work and the places they were visiting. I was kicking myself for not bringing any meds with me.

I was starving by the time I reached home. I ordered a pastrami sub and fries. My mother bought me Oreo ice cream. I had a couple spoons and that was all I could stomach. I got pretty full off the fries. Oreos are my true cookie weakness. I had bought three packages of Oreo thins and I am down to my last pack. They are like potato chips, you can’t eat just one.

I forgot to tell my neuro about the atypical migraines. I guess we’ll have to wait and see if I get another one. I had a rough night sleeping. I went to bed around 2200 or a bit later and then woke up around midnight. I checked messages on my phone. I meant to take some meds because my arms were spazzing on me for some reason and felt like spaghetti. I rolled over on my back and fell asleep. I then woke up three hours later with my back hurting me. I can’t sleep on my back for this reason. I took some meds and waited for them to work.

While I was up, I wrote FB a message of what I just described. A friend in California texted me a little after I sent the message. It was almost 0400 and I had no idea who would be texting me at that hour. It was her. She had some news to tell me. So we talked for about an hour or until I got really drowsy from the meds. It was close to 0500 when I went back to sleep. When I woke up later this morning, I so needed coffee. I made my Pike’s and it was so good. I was contemplating going to Starbucks when I reached the Square on the way home but the bus was there and I really wanted to get home to take some pain meds. My ankle was not too happy with me. I forgot I had turned my phone’s sound off while I was at the doctor’s office. I had a missed call from my friend. She didn’t leave a message so I didn’t call her back. I am sure I will talk to her later tonight.
